The Girl In The Spider’s Web

It’s obviously been awhile since I posted a book. I couldn’t get ‘The Girl In The Spider’s Web’ through this web and back to my bookshelves. That’s okay since this is the digital version. The good news is that Lisbeth is essentially still Lisbeth under David Langercranz. I, however, could see some differences but the writing style certainly is consistent with Stieg Larsson’s.

The Girl Who Takes An Eye For An Eye

Who’s watching you read? ‘Eye’ had to follow up David Langercranz’s first venture into the Millennium Series with this next one. ‘The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye’ sees the tough Lisbeth Salander even a little rougher but still the character I like to follow along with. But no eyes were taken in the reading of this novel.

The Cuckoo’s Calling

I don’t know if J.K. Rowling writes with a glass of wine but since it is wine Wednesday, that’s what I’m going with. I, however, did see a Twitter post of hers with tea and popcorn. I guess if she is writing as Robert Galbraith, more likely she’d have a pint. Speaking of pints, I have to try one of Doom Bar (mentioned in ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’) next time I’m in London … or Edinburgh.

Now I feel a travel photo blog coming on (maybe it was her Edinburgh castle tweet that got to me). It’s been way too long from my last Edinburgh (J. K Rowling’s home) trip; one of my favourite places and where I can start getting back in touch with my Scottish heritage again.

As for ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’ and beyond being enticed by the beer, I’m enjoying the book. I’ve never read any ‘Harry Potter’ (should I be blushing) as the ‘Strike’ series is more my style, well reading style anyway. Since my writing genre goes into a mystic world, different than Harry Potter’s world, still, maybe I should indulge. I’ve heard they’ve been a bit successful and certainly, from what I’ve read so far, J.K. Rowling / Robert Galbraith is a talented writer. Coincidentally, since I started reading ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling,’ I’ve noticed BBC is airing the third story of the ‘Strike’ series in a couple parts. When do we get these in Canada!?

The Silkworm

I was in London near Scotland Yard, New Scotland Yard I guess, with this novel and thought I’d bump into Cormoran Strike since I hear he frequents the place. Turns out I’m a bit (way) behind times as New Scotland Yard is not on Great Scotland Yard any more. Who knew? I was close … or was it maybe because this was the closest London picture I had to tie into ‘The Silkworm.’

Fireworks

Eyes from the astral world looking over what I’ve recently read (‘The Girl In The Spider’s Web’ & ‘The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye’), what I’m reading (‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’), what I’m reading next (‘The Silkworm’) and what I wrote. Actually, making additional use of my ‘lovely astral eye’ model who is also my lovely wife @lechatkatt.
