I thought I would grab a cup of coffee and go to my new releases … treasure chest. This one looked interesting; probably some up and coming young writer. First impressions? It might be remembered for a few years.

That’s where I left my Louis XIV book, on a balcony at his birthplace. Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, apparently is where he was born so I have something in common with him. We both, at one point in our lives, lived in Saint-Germain-en-Laye although I didn’t quite live in the Château. While he moved to Versailles and the Château de Versailles, I moved back to Canada. Hmm.

And he did, so fitting to have this quote above Jean Paul Sartre’s headstone at Cimetiere Montparnasse in Paris. Two other things I learned, to watch for that red bench, I guess in the metro now, and cemeteries are eerie even during the day. If you are around Montparnasse Tower, the Montparnasse Cemetery might be worth a visit. It is a short walk up Boulevard Edgar Quinet (south east side of the Tower) or, if you’re not near the Tower, use the quieter Edgar Quinet metro station. Jean Paul Sartre’s grave site and headstone is shared with his partner and accomplished writer in her own right, Simone de Beauvoir. But those two, that’s another story.
